MPs take R.A.G.E to
10 Downing Street

MPs press Blair on compensation for radiotherapy victims

A cross-party delegation of MPs joined campaign group R.A.G.E (Radiotherapy Action Group Exposure) to present to the Prime Minister a request for compensation for hundreds of women badly injured through radiotherapy treatment. MPs Edward Davey, Jeremy Corbyn and Sir Geoffrey Johnson Smith joined Jan Millington at Number 10 Downing Street.

Liberal Democrat Edward Davey, MP for Kingston & Surbiton, organised the lobby after his Early day Motion in the House of Commons attracted widespread support. The Liberal Democrat MP believes these victims of radiotherapy damage have been let down by the legal system and the Health Department and that only the personal intervention of the Prime Minister can now secure the compensation sought.

Commenting on the delegation, Edward Davey said:

"These women have sustained serious injuries because the NHS made a mistake. Yet poor legal advice has deprived their campaign for redress via the courts. Only the Prime Minister can now break the legal and bureaucratic impasse".
