"Tory opposition an undisciplined rabble" - Edward Davey Analysis of recent Tory voting records shows the extent to which the party is operating in opposition in name only says local Liberal Democrat MP, Edward Davey. The records show that William Hagues Conservatives have failed to vote in 45% of all divisions over the 1999/2000 session. And, when they do vote, they are in disarray, the voting pattern revealing a mixture of internal conflict and incoherence. Edward Davey said, "These figures show that the Liberal Democrats are providing consistent and effective scrutiny of the Government while the Conservatives have just given up. They are not earning the grant of tax payers money that they receive as the nominal official opposition." "The Parliamentary Conservative party has become an undisciplined rabble. Half the time, they do not know which way they are going and the other half, they just go home." Edward Daveys voting record for the last full session of Parliament (1999-2000) was 75%. This places him in the top third of MPs and better than all Conservative MPs bar one. |
