CHRISTMAS CARD COMPETITION
WINNERS ANNOUNCED
5.12.01
Edward Davey with overall winner, Katie Douch and her winning entry
Edward Davey, Liberal Democrat MP for Kingston & Surbiton, has announced the winners in his 2nd annual Christmas card competition.
The presentation took place in Café Chaud, on Platform 1 of Surbiton Station on Saturday December 1st. The event was attended by all the prize winners, their families and the judges.
Mr. Davey unveiled the design of Katie Douch (Surbiton High School) from the 11-15 Years group as the overall winner. Katie's design has been produced as Edward Davey's official Christmas card, which he sends to about a thousand residents, party helpers and businesses. Katie and her family have also been invited to have tea with Mr.Davey at the House of Commons.
Edward Davey said:
"There were over 850 entries and the standard was exceptionally high. Picking winners in the three age groups was very difficult, so I was glad to have three independent judges to do it for me. I was delighted to see the excellent imagination and design skills of the local children on the theme of Peace in our World. Indeed Katie's entry linked together beautifully the themes of world peace and Christmas."
The other group winners were David Channell (Our Lady Immaculate Primary School) in the 4-6 age range and Daniel Murphy (Shrewsbury House School) in the 7-10.
The entries of all nine prize winners can be viewed in Café Chaud at Surbiton Station until Christmas.
