Prestigious Dog Unit to relocate to New Malden Police Station

Local Liberal Democrat MP, Edward Davey, has welcomed the news that around 40 more officers from the South London area dog unit are to be stationed at New Malden police station from this July.  Edward Davey, who held a high level meeting with Kingston Police Officers yesterday, believes that the additional resources are a significant success in his ongoing campaign to guarantee the long term future of New Malden police station.

Edward Davey said,

"With a large number of officers, vehicles and dogs based at New Malden, this police building in our community has been saved.  Although the front counter will not yet be reopened, the daily arrival and departure of so many officers from New Malden sends a powerful message.

The dog handlers will have duties outside our area but will be on the scene to assist with emergencies if necessary.

We should congratulate Chief Superintendent Alan Given who fought hard to win this unit for New Malden."
