More NHS dentists

I am calling for the Government to take urgent action to increase the number of NHS dentists in our area.

The percentage of people without an NHS dentist rose by 13% between Labour coming to power and 2005.

Since then, things have got even worse - the Government has brought in an unpopluar contract that has meant another 2000 dentists leaving the NHS.

The Lib Dems have persistently opposed the new contracts for dentists - things were bad enough before the introduction of the new contract, but they are far worse now. Not only will the new contract cost us all more, but a number of local dentists have now quit the NHS.

Everyone should have the option of an NHS dentist, yet only a third of adults in the area are registered with one.
