Save Surbiton Hospital

A few months ago thousands of local people signed the paper or online petitions to save Surbiton Hospital.

Since then I've had more meetings with local GPs and the Primary Care Trust. I'm yet to be convinced that we will win. We have won a decision for a 'strategic outline case', which is a vision for a new community hospital at Surbiton, but that is far from a guarantee of ultimate success

CHANT

There is now a national campaign called Community Hospitals Acting Nationally Together (CHANT). This has been set up to protest against closures and cuts to community hospital services.

The petition of the supporters of SURBITON HOSPITAL declares that the petitioners welcome the support for community hospitals in the recent Health White paper "Our Health, Our Care, Our Say", which recognises the important role of a renewed community hospital network in delivering enhanced local care.

The petitioners are concerned by the continuing programme of cuts and closures to viable and valued community hospitals since the White Paper.

The petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons shall urge the Department of Health to conduct a swift review of all decisions to reduce or close services.
