Yell Web Awards 2000
What have I got in common with Ben & Jerry? We were both short-listed for the Yell UK Web Awards 2000. The prestigious Yell Awards recognise the very best of the Net. This year they have attracted more interest than ever, with over 7500 nominations. Entries are divided into eleven award categories ranging from Best Personal Site to Best Internet Service Provider. My site was the only Member of Parliament's website among the ten entries shortlisted in the Best Personal Site category and narrowly missed out on becoming one of four finalists for this year's award. I would like to thank everyone who has worked on the site for their efforts and specifically Councillor Mary Reid who has been the driving force behind the site's continuing success. Website is important to me It has always been important to me to be as accessible as possible to my constituents. The site has proved to be an enormously popular means of enabling local residents to find out what I am doing and for them to give me their views, 24 hours a day and 7 days of the week. The winner The awards ceremony was held on 11th July, hosted by Jonathan Ross. The winner in the Best Personal Site category was Law on the Web. This is an extremely useful site for anyone who wants quick online advice about legal problems. |
