Three more post offices to go
Now they want to close 3 more local post offices.
Incredible, but true.
A Government that talks about “social inclusion” is forcing the Post Office to close branches at the heart of our communities. Cutting local services like post offices sounds more like social exclusion to me!
Three of Kingston and Surbiton’s seventeen post offices are to close, if they get their way. Branches at Malden Manor, Chiltern Drive and Berrylands would shut. These serve thousands – including hundreds of elderly and disabled people.
People in Berrylands will be forced to use either Alexandra Drive or the main Surbiton branch on Victoria Road. Have you tried the queue in Surbiton’s post office recently? People who don’t even use the threatened branches will be hit by longer waits.
We must fight these closures. I’ve launched a petition and demanded a meeting with senior managers.
Yet this won’t be an easy campaign. The Post Office have been ruthless in the other areas they’ve gone to. Almost nowhere have they listened to the local opposition.
Still, we must try. The official consultation ends on 20th October, so let’s marshal our arguments and petitions urgently.

We only stand a chance if we all work together – hard and fast.
