Lots of good news!!
First, fighting crime.
Over the next 3 years, Kingston looks set to get 40 extra police officers. Every part of the Borough will get a dedicated team, with a sergeant, constables and police community support officers - with 3 teams of 5 officers starting this year.
Some of us have campaigned for more "bobbies on the beat" for years! After all those years of cuts.
Take Chessington. When I was elected the whole of Chessington was patrolled by half a beat officer - yes, half! By early autumn, Chessington will have five.
Plus, Kingston is getting a hi-tech mobile police station. Able to park up in most streets - whether in Chessington, Malden Rushett, Hook, Tolworth, Worcester Park, Berrylands or anywhere in the Borough. Policing in the community's heart.
With victory in the long campaign for CCTV on Tolworth Broadway, this is progress.
There's more to do, and I'm working hard on a review of how the Met's police officers are shared out across London, fighting our corner again.
Next, education investment. Kingston has just won over £8.5 million from central Government to modernise 3 local schools. That's good news for council taxpayers - cash coming from the Treasury, not us. And even better news for Malden Manor Primary, Richard Challoner and Hollyfield. It's taken time, but for once Kingston got the largest amount in London! More to do, but progress.
