MP sends condolences to New York's Mayor as Parliament is recalled in the wake of terrorist atrocities

Kingston & Surbiton's MP, Edward Davey, has written to the Mayor of New York to express his condolences, on behalf of local residents following the recent terrorist atrocities in the USA.

In the wake of the appalling terrorist attack, Parliament has been recalled for this Friday and Edward Davey believes there will be a strong show of unity across parties and support for the American people. He has expressed his outrage at events and his concerns that local families will have been affected by this tragedy.

In his letter to Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, MP Edward Davey said,

"Please accept my profound sympathies to your whole community at these cowardly unprovoked attacks on your city. To the countless families who have suffered as a result of these atrocities, I extend my own and my community's sincere condolences…. Our thoughts are with you all at this difficult time."

Commenting after the attack, Edward Davey said,

"It was with a profound sense of shock that I watched the events unfold in America.

"The countless loss of innocent human life leaves us all stunned, and the anger that follows seeks early justice."

"The American President is already under severe pressure to retaliate, but it is vital that America, NATO and the civilised world act with calm and cool heads.

"The international community must come together as never before to see down these forces of evil that perpetrate such crimes.

"By ensuring we seek out and punish only the guilty, we can win justice in these crimes against innocents."
