MP BACKS WEBSITE IN THE BATTLE AGAINST THE BULLIES

Kingston and Surbiton's Lib Dem MP, Edward Davey, wrote to the Secretary of State for Education and Skills this week, to support a children's charity's website which aims to help bullied children and their families.

In his letter to the Secretary of State for Education and Skills, Mr Davey highlights the effectiveness of the charity's website 'Bullying Online' at www.Bullying.co.uk. The website provides a question and answer service to children and parents via e-mail. In the first 27 months of going on line, 'Bullying Online' answered an astonishing 6,800 e-mail enquiries. Unfortunately, the Government has so far declined to support their future growth.

Commenting on the website, Edward Davey MP said,

"Bullying remains a perennial problem in our schools. While, many schools have made considerable effort to try and eradicate it, this service can be of great assistance to many anti-bulling initiatives.

"Millions of children can now access the internet and will find it an easy and comfortable way to get help.

"This could be the best value for money measure the Government could take to stop school bullies so I am determined to campaign hard to change their minds.

"I look forward to the Government seeing sense and supporting such innovative projects in the future."
