LOCAL INITIATIVE LEADS TO IMPROVED ROAD SAFETY

Edward Davey, Lib Dem MP for Kingston & Surbiton, and Cllr Derek Osbourne have welcomed the news that our local area is to receive funding for improved road safety.

The DTLR announced this week that New Maiden would be rewarded with a grant towards their neighbourhood initiative following their successful proposals for road calming in the DTLR home zone challenge.

Delighted Cllr Derek Osbourne claimed this as a " Major step forward in getting vehicles off our residential roads" following the news that the area had been successful amongst the 237 bids.

Edward Davey MP praised the initiative that will reduce traffic for some 570 residents. "I'm very happy to see all the hard work of local campaigners has paid off. This shows that by getting involved local people can improve their neighbourhoods"
