Local MP puts his stamp on Cats Protection Week
17.09.04
Edward Davey, Liberal Democrat MP for Kingston and Surbiton, played his part in Cats Protection Week by donating a large number of used stamps to Crawley Cats Protection to help the cats and kittens of Surrey find new homes.
Cats Protection Week, which will this year run from 11th-18th September, is a chance for all cat lovers to raise awareness about the catastrophic case of homeless cats up and down the country. Edward Davey's stamps will be converted into cash to put some money in the kitty for the local branch of the Cats Protection League.
Commenting, Edward Davey MP said,
"Cats Protection Week is all about rescuing cats and promoting responsible cat ownership.
"The theme of this year's Cats Protection Week is the relationship between men and their cats. Apparently men from London enjoy lavishing care on their cat just as much as women do!
"I certainly hope that every cat can be as well looked after as Max and Molly, my two rescued cats. This donation goes a small way to achieving that.
"I am delighted to support such a worthwhile cause."
