New CCTV cameras on Tolworth Broadway went live this week as part of the Liberal Democrat campaign to fight crime in the borough. Local MP Edward Davey was on hand to celebrate this step forward having campaigned for this for several years.

The cash for the new cameras was won earlier this year when the Liberal Democrat council gained external funding and backed the project themselves.

Commenting, Edward Davey MP said,

"This is fabulous news for Tolworth Broadway businesses and local people. Not only will it cut crime and make the Broadway a safer place, but it will play an important role in our efforts to regenerate the Broadway area.

"This victory is largely thanks to the repeated efforts of Liberal Democrat councillors, in particular Vicki Harris, Rolson Davies, Patricia Franks and Rob Lee, who have worked hard and campaigned with me.

"We have been working together for years to get the cameras funded and installed in Tolworth, as we know it is something that residents and traders alike feel very strongly about.

"The new CCTV cameras will make Tolworth Broadway an even safer place to live, work and shop."
