Student Question Time for Local MP

12.11.04

Local MP, Edward Davey, was faced with an enthusiastic audience of students at Esher College this week. The Liberal Democrat MP for Kingston and Surbiton gave a talk to almost two hundred students on the policies and aims of the Liberal Democrats.

The event was designed by Esher College to give its students an opportunity to listen and to question politicians on their party's views and policies. The audience, made up mainly of those studying politics at AS and A2 level, listened intently to Edward Davey's talk before having the opportunity to ask their own questions.

Commenting, Edward Davey MP said,

'I enjoy having the opportunity to talk to young students and I find that many of them feel strongly about issues that the Liberal Democrats have been campaigning on- notably the Iraq War and University top-up fees.

'I hope my talk will have encouraged more political curiosity in those who attended. I was pleased to be able to talk about some of the issues that I- and my Liberal Democrat colleagues- feel strongly about, both locally and nationally.
