Local Liberal Democrat MP, Edward Davey, attended a meeting of the Chessington Methodist Church Ladies Group on the 23rd November to give a talk on his life as an MP. The group, which meets twice a month at the Methodist Church on Moor Lane, was provided with an insight into the life of Kingston's hard-working MP, Edward Davey, and the different things he has to do as their representative in Parliament.
Edward Davey, MP for Kingston and Surbiton, talked to the group about his role as the Liberal Democrat Shadow to the office of the Deputy Prime Minister, and the large amount of work that he performs locally in his constituency.
Talking after the event, Edward Davey MP, said:
'I always enjoying meeting members of the local community, and these events provide me with the opportunity to report back to my constituents on many of the things I do. It is vital to my job to encourage and enjoy constant interaction with individuals and groups from the local community.
'I enjoy my work on the front bench for the Liberal Democrats, as the spokesperson for Local Government and the Regions, but it is the work that I do in my constituency that gives me the most pleasure.
'Hearing about and acting upon local issues is the most important facet of my life as an MP. It is a privilege for me to serve the people of Kingston and Surbiton, and important to meet and talk to local residents about things that really matter to them.'
