The Surbiton and Chessington Community and Police Consultative Group were this week addressed by Edward Davey MP at their local community meeting. Edward Davey, who is the Liberal Democrat MP for Kingston and Surbiton, spoke of the achievements of the Group over the past year and looked forward to more success in the coming year.
The Surbiton and Chessington CPCG is part of the Kingston Community and Police Consultative Group and has representatives from resident's associations, local branches of national charities, local charities, voluntary and minority groups, churches, councillors and the Kingston police service. Edward Davey went along to one of their regular community meetings that are held with beat officers in Surbiton YMCA.
Commenting, Edward Davey MP said,
'The Surbiton and Chessington PCG do a fantastic job, serving our local community. With their help, there has been real progress this year with the launch of two safer neighbourhood teams, one in Chessington and one in Berrylands, and teams for St Mark's and Tolworth now to be established in the New Year.
'This is excellent news for Kingston. According to the Metropolitan Police Authority's October figures, overall crime is down in Kingston and looks set to stay down, thanks to the work of groups such as the Surbiton and Chessington Group.
'That is what the Community and Police Consultative Groups are all about: listening to the concerns and needs that the local community has with regards to crime and working closely with the local police.
'In this way we can crack down on crime and keep our neighbourhoods safe.'
