Wear it Pink
05.10.05
Edward Davey MP has come out in support of Breast
Cancer Campaign’s (BCC) award wining national ‘wear it pink®’ day
on 28 October, the last Friday of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Edward Davey wants to encourage people in Kingston and Surbiton and
others across the country to wear an item of pink on 28 October and
donate £2 to BCC, the only charity that specialises in funding
independent breast cancer research throughout the UK.
Commenting, Edward Davey MP said,
“Every year over
13,000 people in the UK die from breast cancer. I’ve had friends and
relatives who have suffered with breast cancer. That’s why I’m urging
people to back the campaign. The money raised on this day is essential
for the Charity, as it will continue to help fund its breast cancer
research at centres of excellence across the country.
All types of people,
companies, schools, universities, clubs, associations and local
authorities throughout the UK took part in 2004, making it the most
successful BCC fundraising event ever, raising over £1.3 million
in just one day and winning the UK Charity Award for ‘Fundraising
Campaign of the Year’!
The money raised
goes towards valuable medical research to help the one woman in nine in
the UK, who will be affected by this disease in her lifetime."
