Edward Davey Backs
Ming Campbell

Kingston and Surbiton’s Liberal
Democrat MP, Edward Davey, has been asked by LibDem leadership hopeful
Sir Menzies (Ming) Campbell MP to help organise his leadership campaign.
Edward
Davey, who will be vice-chair on the Campbell Campaign, said:
“I’m delighted to be able to help Ming with his campaign. He will make
a really effective leader who should inspire both those who have been
let down by Labour and those who are increasingly worried by the
Tories’ lack of substance.
“It’s
great that there is now a contest with four potential candidates, as it
is vital that Party members have their say on who they want to run the
Party. However, I feel that Ming is has experience, credibility and
people everywhere can easily imagine him as the next Prime Minister.
“This will stand in stark contrast to fading Labour leadership and a
Conservative leader who wants to be Tony Blair Mark Two.
“Ming’s strong emphasis on the environment will attract more voters to
the Liberal Democrats, building on the success we have achieved under
both Charles Kennedy and Paddy Ashdown.”
