MP's website Short-Listed for the Yell UK 2000 Web Awards
www.edwarddavey.co.uk
recognised as one of the top websites in the UK
What have Ben and Jerry
and Edward Davey MP got in common? Both have been
short-listed for the Yell UK Web Awards 2000.
The prestigious Yell Awards recognise the very best of
the Net. With the Internet and e-commerce playing an
increasingly important role in all aspects of our lives,
the awards are a unique opportunity for internet users to
nominate
their favourite site.
The Awards, now in their fifth year, have attracted more
interest than ever, with a 25 per cent increase in this
year's nominations. The 1000s of entries are
divided into eleven award categories ranging from Best
Personal Site to Best Internet Service Provider (ISP).
Edward Davey's site was the only Member of Parliament's
website among the eleven other entries shortlisted in the
Best Personal Site category and narrowly missed out on
becoming one of three finalists for this year's award.
Nigel Marson, Marketing Communications Controller,
Yell.com said,
"The response
to the Yell UK Web Awards has been phenomenal this year.
With such a large number of high quality and creative
sites to choose from, short-listing candidates has been
even tougher than usual."
Local MP Edward Davey added,
"I would like
to thank everyone who has worked on the site for their
efforts and specifically Councillor Mary Reid who has
been the driving force behind the site's continuing
success."
"It has always been important to me to be as
accessible as possible to my constituents. The site
has proved to be an enormously popular means of enabling
local residents to find out what I am doing and for them
to give me their views, 24 hours a day and 7 days of the
week."
