Edward Davey wears wig to raise awareness of breast cancer

Edward Davey, Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament, for Kingston and Surbiton, has opted to go pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. By wearing a pink wig and big pink glasses, Edward hopes to draw attention to the disease.

Breast Cancer Awareness is an annual national health campaign organised by the major breast cancer charities to increase awareness of the disease, raise funds for research into its cause, prevention and cure, and offer vital information and support to those affected by it. Approximately 41,000 women and 300 men are newly diagnosed with breast cancer every year. However, an estimated 172,000 women in the UK, who have been diagnosed with breast cancer in the past ten years, are still alive.

Edward Davey said “Breast Cancer Awareness Day provides a great chance to raise awareness of this disease that affects so many people’s lives.  Although it has a high profile breast cancer screening is still low and that is why we need to continue with the Breast Cancer Ribbon and other activities, so we can encourage people to spot the disease in its early stages when it can be effectively cured.”
