Kingston Scouts join MP and Mr Speaker at House of Commons

This week two local scouts joined local Lib Dem MP Edward Davey at the House of Commons for a special reception hosted by the Speaker of the House of Commons.

With the Scout Movement enjoying its centenary year, the Chief Scout and scouts from all over Britain were entertained and were able to ask MPs questions.

Two scouts from 1st Hook Scout Group - Kat Gittins and Connor Ward - joined Edward Davey for this tea party in the Commons rooms of Mr Speaker in Parliament.

Edward Davey commented afterwards:

"Kingston has such a brilliant Scout Movement, and it was a pleasure to take Kat and Connor to the Commons and to answer their questions.

"Having been a cub and an air scout myself, I'm delighted that so many young people do enjoy the fun and activities that scouting offers, and with 400,000 scouts in the UK and 28 million worldwide celebrating their 100th birthday, the future of scouting is in good hands."
