MP launches 'Kingston & Surbiton Christmas 2000' Christmas card competition

Local MP, Edward Davey, has just launched an exciting new competition for the Borough's school children. The aim of the competition is for local children to produce a picture depicting a typical Christmas in Kingston & Surbiton. 

The overall winner's design will be made into his parliamentary Christmas 2000 cards which are seen by 100s of people throughout the Royal Borough, Westminster and the wider world.

There are three age groups 4-6 years, 7-10 and 11-15 years and entrants have the chance of winning exciting prizes provided by Surbiton-based "Childhood Discoveries" and Regency Bookshop. 

All entries will be judged by an independent panel led by Robin Hutchinson (Urban Arts & Kingston Theatre Trust).  All local schools in the constituency have been invited to take part and entries are due to be returned to Edward Davey by 23rd October 2000.

Edward Davey said,

"Rather than send out stuffy designs thought up in a studio somewhere, I thought sending out local children's' designs would be far more fun."

"From my visits to local schools, it is clear there are plenty of budding young artists out there and I am sure they will rise to this challenge."
