13/11/00 "Kingstons new Casualty Unit cant come fast enough" - Edward Davey Davey
welcomes start of construction at Local MP, Edward Davey, this week welcomed the start of construction of the new Casualty Department at Kingston Hospital. Builders moved on site this week and Mr Davey attended a short celebration when he called for "an early completion" of the much need new Accident & Emergency Department. Commenting on the hospital visit, he said, "Im delighted that full-scale construction has now begun on Kingstons new A&E unit. "Kingston Hospital has long needed this brand new department, so Im pushing for en early completion." "This is the beginning of the end of our long campaign to win this key building for Kingston. But only when its up and working for local people in the autumn of next year, will I be satisfied." "Our NHS campaign still goes on however. There is so much that needs improving, this is a first step to revitalising our local NHS."
Question on Kingston A&E at Prime Minister's Question Time, 15.12.99 Q4. [101575] Mr. Edward Davey (Kingston and Surbiton): Does the Prime Minister share my concern that--despite recent improvements, thanks to the fabulous efforts of staff--patients waiting at Kingston hospital's accident and emergency unit still face painful waiting times in an out-of-date building? Will the Prime Minister, therefore, personally intervene to ask the London region's NHS executive to confirm urgently that the new investment needed to modernise Kingston hospital's accident and emergency department will be announced? Will he give me and my constituents the assurance that the long delays in pushing ahead with the new investment will end, so that people suffering those long delays at Kingston's A and E department may, at long last, expect such waits to end? |
