"LOCAL NHS NEEDS MORE BEDS AND STAFF" - NEW SURVEY FINDS Daveys NHS survey results to "ramp up the pressure on Health Ministers" New survey findings released this week by local MP, Edward Davey, reveal key shortcomings of Kingstons NHS, including the need for more beds and more staff. The survey drew on responses to Mr. Daveys health campaign, "Kingston NHS Challenge" which was launched last year to highlight the funding needs of the Kingston area. After winning the campaign for Kingstons new Accident and Emergency Unit, Mr. Davey believes the next key health campaign is to turn round the relatively poor settlements received by Kingston health authority in the last ten years from successive Conservative and Labour Governments. In addition to the 4,000 replies to his constituency-wide survey, almost 300 other residents responded to the MPs Kingston NHS Challenge campaign with their own specific cases. The majority of these highlighted problems with services at local hospitals. A summary of these cases and the results of his constituency survey were sent to the Secretary of State for Health with a number of recommendations on how to improve local services. Commenting on the results of his campaign, Edward Davey said, "Thank you to all the residents that provided me with examples of their problems with local NHS services. These will help our fight to win extra NHS cash for Kingston. "Local peoples experiences clearly demonstrate that years of Tory under funding left chronic staff and bed shortages and lengthy waiting lists here in Kingston. Unfortunately, Labours response has been too little, too late. "It is imperative that our local NHS now receives the proper funding it requires to tackle these urgent problems." |
