Ed Davey’s re-zoning campaign continues

Early on Tuesday 10th February, Ed Davey, Liberal Democrat Councillors and supporters of his rezoning campaign were outside Surbiton and Kingston Station’s to explain to commuters why he has been campaigning so hard to get the station rezoned.

Commuters from Kingston & Surbiton were hit with excessive charges by Mayor Livingstone and Labour Transport Ministers bringing in zonal charging back in 2007.

Ever since, Ed Davey has been working hard to get Kingston & Surbiton re-zoned into zone 5, from its current position in zone 6. For the full history of his campaign, visit Station Rezoning Campaign.

Ed commented:

“Since 2007 I have been campaigning thousands of commuters from Kingston & Surbiton stations to get a fair deal.

“Over the years, we’ve gradually made progress so that last year saw everyone agreeing - from South West Trains to Transport for London and the Department for Transport. The Chancellor George Osborne is now the only person left blocking the rezoning of Kingston and Surbiton stations and a fairer deal for local commuters.

”With this Parliament’s final Budget just weeks away, I’ve launched what I’ve called “the final push”. I want as many local people as possible to join me in calling on the Chancellor to listen to everyone else, stop blocking the rezoning and fund this overdue change immediately.”
